Player Profile
The United States Golf
Association (USGA) and the National Golf Foundation (NGF)
recently observed that, "In the last twenty-five years, the
average handicap has stayed roughly the same level. Yet,
equipment, course condition, teaching techniques, and the
overall knowledge of the game have improved leaps and bounds."
This being the case, we are left to wonder why the average
golfer’s score remains the same. At the GBSG, we believe the
answer to this challenge is in the learning process, or the
manner that information is practiced. Therefore, our goal is to
provide students with the most relevant information necessary
combined with a performance plan, so they can put the knowledge
into action.
To develop smarter
players, our teaching professionals employ a First Things
First philosophy whereby students build a solid foundation
for their game. Every poor golf shot can usually be traced back
to an improper set-up or an increase in tension during the
motion. Consequently, we focus on the cause of technical flaws
and the reasons for anxiety in order to develop good habits.
Furthermore, we teach players how to decipher their own misses
so they can make adjustments independently. The ability to serve
as one’s own coach is a must for maximizing golf enjoyment and
productivity.
When teaching the
fundamentals, we maintain a balanced perspective that includes
long game, short game, course management, physical conditioning
and mental preparation. Although each component is necessary to
fulfill your golf potential, our team of coaches can customize a
program that fits your personal needs, interests, goals and
commitment level. All members of our staff are available for
individual lessons, group clinics, corporate outings, league
play, junior programs, and our signature multi-day schools.
Whatever your need, the
George Beardsley School of Golf is your one and only
place for golf instruction.
